About the project

A teacher leading a phonemic awareness lesson with a class of young students

Heggerty is a leading provider of phonemic awareness curriculum and literacy resources designed to support early childhood and elementary educators. Their evidence-based programs help children develop the foundational reading skills necessary for lifelong literacy, with a strong focus on phonological and phonemic awareness. Trusted by schools and districts across the country, Heggerty's materials are designed to be easy to implement, engaging for students, and effective in accelerating reading development in both classroom and intervention settings.

Heggerty partnered with Vizionality to redesign and redevelop its website to better reflect the brand's growth and improve the user experience for both educators and school decision-makers. The project included a full visual and structural overhaul of the main marketing site, with a modern, accessible design optimised for educators seeking literacy resources. Alongside the redesign, we upgraded the WooCommerce-powered webstore to enhance product discovery, streamline navigation, and improve the checkout experience for schools and individual educators alike.

A key feature of the project was the implementation of a new B2B Request a Quote system, allowing schools and districts to build custom quotes directly from the site. This feature simplified the ordering process for larger institutions, integrated seamlessly with the sales team's workflow, and supported personalised follow-up. To strengthen data accuracy and enable more advanced analytics, we also implemented server-side tracking, improving the reliability of key conversion data, supporting better attribution across marketing channels, and aligning with growing privacy requirements.

Redesigning Heggerty.org for Scale, Speed, and Smarter Sales

Heggerty partnered with Vizionality to execute a full-scale website redevelopment to support its rapid growth and evolving customer needs. The project included building a new, high-performance website using a hybrid architecture of WordPress and React.js, combining the content management flexibility of WordPress with the speed and interactivity of a modern front end. To improve scalability and performance, the WooCommerce-powered webstore was moved to a separate domain, shop.heggerty.org, allowing for more focused optimisation and infrastructure management between the main site and the store.

For the redesign, we collaborated with UX designer Justin Gilman to deliver a fresh, intuitive user experience that better reflected Heggerty's leadership in literacy education. The result was a clean, modern interface optimised for educators and decision-makers, with clear pathways to explore curriculum, access resources, and make purchasing decisions. On the analytics side, we implemented server-side tracking, which led to a 22% increase in data visibility and accuracy, dramatically improving the reliability of conversion and engagement insights. We also overhauled Google Tag Manager and GA4 to create a more robust event tracking system, and built a custom Looker Studio dashboard for real-time visibility into user behaviour, marketing performance, and sales funnels.

As part of Heggerty's strategic shift toward B2B, we developed and launched a new Request a Quote form tailored for schools and districts. The form integrates with Salesforce, automatically creating a lead and sending instant alerts to sales reps when a new inquiry from a school district is submitted. This streamlined sales workflows, prioritised high-value opportunities, and enabled timely follow-up with institutional buyers.

The challenge

Heggerty's existing website and webstore were no longer meeting the needs of its growing customer base, particularly school districts and educators seeking a seamless, user-friendly experience. The design felt outdated, the navigation was cluttered, and the checkout process lacked flexibility for institutional buyers. The site also relied solely on client-side tracking, which led to gaps in data accuracy and limited the marketing team's ability to confidently attribute conversions and optimise campaigns. As the organisation expanded, it needed a more scalable, data-driven platform to better serve both B2C and B2B audiences.

What we did

  1. Rebuilt heggerty.org on a hybrid WordPress and React.js architecture, pairing WordPress content management with a fast, interactive front end.
  2. Moved the WooCommerce store onto its own domain, shop.heggerty.org, so the site and the store could be optimised and scaled independently.
  3. Worked with UX designer Justin Gilman on a redesign built around how educators and district decision-makers actually navigate curriculum.
  4. Implemented server-side tracking to close the gaps client-side tracking was leaving in conversion data and attribution.
  5. Overhauled Google Tag Manager and GA4 into a robust event tracking system, and built a custom Looker Studio dashboard on top of it.
  6. Built a B2B Request a Quote form that creates a Salesforce lead and alerts sales reps the moment a district submits an inquiry.

The outcome

Server-side tracking lifted data visibility and accuracy by 22 percent, giving the marketing team conversion and attribution numbers they can act on. The store runs on its own infrastructure, and district quote requests now land in Salesforce as leads with reps alerted in real time, rather than arriving as email to be sorted by hand.
