About the project

The Women Engaged team together in shirts marking ten years of the organisation

Women Engaged is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Black women and young adults in Georgia through civic engagement, leadership development, and reproductive justice advocacy. By combining grassroots organizing with education and policy work, Women Engaged builds the political power of historically underrepresented communities. The organization provides resources, training, and platforms for individuals to become informed voters, effective advocates, and community leaders, all while centering equity, justice, and systemic change.

Vizionality partnered with the Executive Director of Women Engaged to revamp their website, giving it a fresh, modern design that better reflects their mission and strengthens their digital presence. The redesign focused on improving navigation, accessibility, and content structure to make it easier for visitors to engage with the organization's work.

Alongside the visual and structural updates, we integrated Mailchimp to streamline email signups and automate newsletter campaigns, helping them grow and engage their supporter base more effectively. We also set up Google Analytics to track user behaviour and site performance, giving the team insight to guide future voting outreach and content strategy.

A Redesign Built Around Taking Action

Women Engaged partnered with Vizionality to modernise and strengthen their digital presence through a complete website redesign. Their previous site was outdated, difficult to navigate, and lacked the functionality needed to support their growing civic engagement and advocacy efforts. The goal was a user-friendly, mobile-responsive website that clearly communicated their mission, encouraged deeper community involvement, and served as a central hub for their programs, events, and resources.

The project began with a full audit of the existing site to identify content gaps, technical limitations, and usability issues. From there we developed a clean, accessible design with improved navigation and a flexible page structure, making it easier for users to find information, take action, and get involved. We worked closely with the Women Engaged team to streamline content, highlight calls to action, and keep the site aligned with their brand and values. The new layout also allows content updates by non-technical staff, giving the team greater control over site maintenance.

To support outreach, we integrated Mailchimp into the website, creating custom newsletter signup forms and automating email capture for ongoing communication with supporters. We also implemented Google Analytics, giving the team data on user behaviour, page performance, and traffic sources. Those insights let Women Engaged make more informed decisions about content strategy and outreach campaigns.

The challenge

Women Engaged's previous website was outdated and difficult to navigate, making it challenging for users to find key information or take action, such as signing up for newsletters or getting involved in advocacy efforts. The site lacked integration with essential tools like Mailchimp, limiting the organization's ability to grow and engage its supporter base through email campaigns. There was also no analytics tracking in place, leaving the team without insight into how visitors were interacting with the site or which content was most effective, which made data-driven decisions about outreach and engagement impossible.

What we did

  1. Audited the existing site for content gaps, technical limitations, and usability issues before designing anything.
  2. Rebuilt on a clean, accessible, mobile-responsive design with navigation and a page structure built around getting involved.
  3. Streamlined the content with the team and surfaced the calls to action that had been buried.
  4. Integrated Mailchimp with custom signup forms so email capture and newsletters run automatically.
  5. Implemented Google Analytics from scratch, covering user behaviour, page performance, and traffic sources.
  6. Left the site editable by non-technical staff, so the team controls its own maintenance.

The outcome

Women Engaged came away with a refreshed, scalable website that supports its mission of empowering Black women and young adults through civic engagement, leadership development, and reproductive justice advocacy. Supporters can find their way to action, email signups feed a list that grows on its own, and for the first time the team can see which content is doing the work.
